TERTULIAS are one of the best inventions of Spain. The word signifies a conversation/debate open to anyone present, in which an infinite variety of topics are discussed in the public area of the coffee house: politics, literature, philosophy, art, bullfighting, general gossip, etc.
We will meet in Café Gijón (C/ Recoletos, 21) one of the most famous spots for tertulias. Famous names such as poet Federico García Lorca, Nobel Prize winner Camilo José Cela, philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and painter Salvador Dalí have been linked to discussions within its walls.
